Why you should NOT wake up at 5 am
This may be one of the only pieces of content online that advocate against waking up at 5 am.
Let me preface this by saying, I woke up at 5 am from the end of my senior year (May of this year), through a summer of working/studying/cutting, to now writing this piece at 5:35 am in a Starbucks near me.
So why the hell am I writing this?
To warn you to be cautious with waking up at 5 am.
Here are some downsides:
- You are tired when everyone else is peaking
At around 4 o’clock, when school/work day is over, many people’s day starts, and that’s just about where yours ends. Them waking up at 7:30 or eight and peaking at 4 is the equivalent to waking up at 5 am and peaking at one and being slightly tired by four.
- Your prime socializing hours are gone and replaced with hours of loneliness (swapping night texts for morning… nothing)
If you are my age, you know all of the juicy and spicy texting happens at night.. when you’re now sleeping… because you have to go to bed around 9 to wake up at 5 am.
- You’re weaker in the gym.
You’re not fully awake in the morning. Therefore your nervous system cannot fire at 100%, and you lift nowhere near the weight you would at night.
- Your friends think something is wrong with you.
If all of your friends are laughing and yelling and you’re sitting down looking into space because you cannot even fathom having the same amount of energy as them, they will, in turn, think your a downer/loser/L manz, which you sorta are, but it’s worth it (sometimes).
Don’t suffer just to suffer, and because of all of these Gary V. influencers are saying to grind and because Ethan.A.Castro posts oddly early “have a great day” stories, seemingly to flex how early he wakes up. Don’t be the loser that sleeps 4 hours before everyone. Don’t be the loser that wakes up at lunch time.
Well, guess what @ethan.a.castro! I’m in college, and you’re not.
I do not need to write any of the benefits. Read any of the 10000 “Why you should wakeup at 5 am. Trillionaire routine. Get 10x things more done per day.” articles.
Cheers!
