A lil’ Gut-Brain Axis and Suicide Parasites.

Hello everyone.

I have an insatiable thirst for not only learning but also for making sure I do everything possible to have others share my inspiration and internalize my insights and info.

I have delved neck-deep into the pool of research surrounding the Gut-Brain Axis, and I want to say, I truly believe it will lead to the most powerful health discoveries in the coming months & years.

Here is a presentation on Gut-Brain Axis and Autism, that I recently shared in my research fellowship.

TL;DR

Researchers at Baylor University discovered a bacteria (L.Reuteri) that can reverse social deficits in Autism, as well as the mechanisms & pathways by which it does so. Giving the autistic mice L.Reuteri for 4 weeks rescued most of their social deficit.

Making Mice Fat by changing their gut

I would also like to share this study on taking gut microbiota from an obese twin, putting it in a mouse, and taking gut microbiota from a lean twin and putting it in a mouse.

The researchers found that the mouse that received the gut microbiome from the obese individual started to have a body composition that resembled that of the gut-microbiome donor, and the other mouse resembled that of the leaner donor.

The mice ate the same and burned the same calories, but still succumbed to their microbiome’s wish (obese gut mouse became obese, and lean gut mouse became lean).

Researchers looked at whether alteration of the gut microbiome could impact actions and exploratory behaviors in mice.

The scientists were working with 2 different strains of laboratory mice. One anxious (Gen Z) mouse, one confident (tik tok star) mouse.

They saw that the anxious mouse took longer to jump off of a platform (a confidence measure), vs the confident mouse.

The scientists switched the microbiota of the two strains of mice and repeated the test. The anxious mouse then jumped off the platform in a minute less time, and the confident mouse went from jumping in a few seconds to taking over a minute.

Eating for a Good Gut

Fiber is what your microbiota eats. MAC’s (a term I learned in The Good Gut by Dr. Justin Sonnenburg and Dr. Erica Sonnenburg) are microbiota-accessible carbohydrates, and that’s what they suggest you consume more of.

Women should try to eat at least 21 to 25 grams of fiber a day, while men should aim for 30 to 38 grams a day. ← this is the suggestion by the mayo clinic, but the HADZA TRIBE which is one of the only remaining known tribes that still practice the old way, eats up to 150g of fiber a day.

There are also many helpful bacteria and live cultures in dairy and fermented foods.

^These are just some of the few

SUICIDE PARASITE

I’ll talk a little bit about Taxoplamosa Gondii.

  • It’s a parasite that goes into mice
  • it makes the mice fearless of cats, so the mouse can get eaten
  • the cat consumes it
  • the cat poops it out
  • it replicates

The only issue is that, sometimes humans get it when changing the kitty litter.

It makes humans more attractive, more reckless and raises testosterone in men.

Dr Sapolsky goes on to say that motorcyclists have a high probability of being infected with Toxoplasmosis, and that infected people are “three to four times more likely to be killed in car accidents involving reckless speeding” suggesting the condition is key to our appetite for speed and risk.

So what it sort of does to humans

  • makes them more attractive to others
  • and makes them more fearless of death

So either it spreads to more or goes into the ground and replicates.
I believe my cats gave me Toxo a year back. Let’s just say, my thoughts were very out of control, and it was very untimely in regard to having it be the end of senior year.
